The national initiative against drugs is a project started by Svavar Sigurdsson.

• Purchased computer equipment, a camera and scanner for the customs authorities at Keflavík Airport.
• Purchased mobile phones for the customs authorities and the Drug Squad.
• Financed the publication and distribution of the leaflet "Drugs, you and your child" which was published in 95,000 copies.
• Lobbied the Government of Iceland, municipal authorities and other high placed entities in Iceland on the necessity of taking action due to increased drug use and violence in society.
• Sold all his property to finance the costs resulting from his campaign.
• Shown incredible self-sacrifice in this fight against one of the greatest evils of our age.

A national initiative against drugs is an extremely important matter as drug use among children and young people has increased.

The battle involves, among other things, the preparation of leaflets to help parents gain more knowledge about preventive measures and the fight against this poison.

The nation's future is in grave danger if nothing is done. Many people who use drugs grow up believing in delusions. They even live their lives in a constant state of misunderstanding and/or destroy their minds.

Current statistics indicate that approximately 10-15% of drugs smuggled to Iceland are found by the authorities while 85-90% are sold on the market.


Our main point of emphasis is to prevent the importation of drugs by any means available.

The mental and financial damages suffered by the nation as a result of drugs are incalculable.
Nothing, not disease, accidents or other deaths, takes as many lives as drugs do.
Conditions in society worsen day by day, as can be seen in the increase in violence and the substantial increase in crime.
Discussions with Elías Kristjánsson, a member of the Drug Squad, reveal that the Drug Squad desperately needs a number of additional tools such as cameras, computer equipment etc.
We can be victorious in the fight against drugs if the nation presents an unified front and this is something we are working on. Help us in the fight.
Obviously, this is a huge project and we need all the support we can get from individuals and companies.
